PORTLAND, Maine — Nov. 18, 2025 — Pine Tree Key, a nonpartisan voter information project focused on Maine elections, has released an interactive comparison feature designed to help voters compare their views with participating candidates' published responses.
The feature allows users to compare their views on a set of policy statements with candidates' responses in a consistent, side-by-side format. Because candidate participation is ongoing, the feature currently reflects responses from four campaigns. Additional responses will be published as they are received.
“This is an early public release so voters can start exploring the feature now, while we continue collecting responses,” said Daniela Kloeckner, founder of Pine Tree Key. “The goal is to make candidate positions easier to find and compare—without commentary or endorsements.”
How it works
- Voters respond to a series of statements by selecting “agree,” “disagree,” “neutral,” or “skip.”
- After completing the statements, voters can weigh up to three issues that matter most to them.
- Results provide both a match percentage showing overall alignment and a side-by-side view that lets voters compare responses statement by statement.
- Candidates with published responses appear first; candidates without published responses appear afterward and are marked “Awaiting response.”
- Results are updated as candidates submit responses or request changes.
Pine Tree Key does not endorse candidates. Match results reflect only the statements included and the responses provided by participating campaigns. Each participating candidate also has a dedicated overview and responses page where additional context may be provided.
Candidates and campaign staff can participate or request updates through Pine Tree Key's published contact process.
